This department is involved in provision of clinical and laboratory services as well as research and training of resident doctors. The department has two broad units each providing both clinical and laboratory services for either primary or secondary haematological disorders. The department provides safe blood and most of the serological tests to all categories of patients of the hospital
Department of Haematology and Blood transfusion is involved in the training of specialist Doctors in haematology and blood transfusion under the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African Postgraduate Medical College. It also plays a major role in the training of Medical Laboratory Interns, Clinical Medical students, Medical laboratory students and other health related personnel.
Academic Activities
- Training of Specialist Doctors in the Field of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, and other fields of Medicine like Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Paediatrics
- Training of Clinical Medical Students of the University of Jos
- Training of Medical Laboratory Interns
- Training of Medical Laboratory Students of the University of Jos
- Training of other allied Health professionals like, Anaesthetic Nurses, Community Health Officers, etc
